Photo from the book’s website,

A friend, who is also a friend of the author, gave me this curious little book as a gift. It’s a collection of short vignettes that take place in bars and restaurants mostly in San Francisco, sometimes venturing across one of the bridges. Some are melancholy, others quirky. My favorite is one where a patron puts his finger into a venus flytrap. They’re just the right mix to capture the spirit of a bar crawl through San Francisco. I had this book on my shelf next to my desk for a year and would occasionally pick it up and read a sketch or two, which I think is probably the right way to do it, maybe when you can’t actually go to the bar yourself.
