Making Povi Bread, Christmas Eve 2011

December 25, 2011

We made Povi bread again this year for Christmas. For the first time, we made the walnut filling, which I’d never had before. I was skeptical, but it turned out great. Here’s the Bosiljevac family recipe for Povi, which my mom put down in this document last year. She’s very good with giving explicit directions. Follow these closely and you can’t go wrong.

Here are some photos from this year:

Rolling out the dough.

Putting the walnut filling on it.

Walnut filling spread thin across the dough.

Rolling the dough up into a long tube.

Rolled dough placed in the pan.

After letting the bread rise for a couple hours in a warm oven.

After baking it for 35 minutes.

Cooled and removed from pan. Viola!
