Conversations in Sleep Deprivation

May 22, 2011

Waking up in the middle of the night to feed the new baby does have some advantages. Terri gets to see what I’d be like if I always spoke directly from my subconscious brain. Here’s a couple samples:

Friday  3:00 am

Terri brings the baby to bed.
Jim:   What’s this little guy’s name?
Terri: What?
Jim:  I asked what the little guy’s name was.
Terri:  Our daughter?
Jim:   No, the little guy who’s going to do the breastfeeding. What’s his name?
Terri:  Go back to sleep.

Saturday  4:00 am
Terri breastfeeding. Jim kind of wakes up.
Jim:   What’s the status on this one?
Terri laughs.
Jim:  What? Doesn’t that make sense or am I being nonsensical?
Terri: No. I…
Jim:   I just want to see if we’re going to do it the same as last time or if we’re going to hang from a tree.
Terri: Right.
